too many times i have been in such a situation.. a kind of atmosphere where no human is comfortable.. it is always tough.. you know you have the choice, you know what is the option you want to select.. but ultimately we choose what others want.. saying NO without hurting someone or making someone angry is very tough and one who learns that art will survive the world without any degree..
your manager comes and asks.. he talks so politely so kind and he praises you so much he keeps his head like that of a lost kitten he is almost st your feet he tells you "i can get you any number of resource please do it for me".. and what we tell i will do it all by myself.. we do not want to hurt our manager.. and more than that we have not demanded anything in return from him.. your heart wanted to tell a no.. your head wanted to tell a no but your mouth replied with a yes.. i did notice a lot of people in who have faced such a situation and those who where able to tell what they wanted to were not in a good position.. and there are very few who can satisfy their need also that of others need.. in this case your managers.. but once we learn to tell no then that is where our journey begins.. that where we start getting the right respect and the reward.. we should not be someone who does everything then our value is decided by the worst job we do.. i am learning the art of giving no as a reply.. and yes as an option... well hopefully someday i will be able to stand up and tell no.. but guess what we indians are born with so much commitment that by the time we learn to tell a no.. the no will of no value..
