If ever you consider cricket a religion then Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, the man behind the helmet with curly hair is god, and if he is God he is immortal. there is no other way to express my gratitude to the greatest entertainers of my era. he has given a climax which Mani Rathnam could not even have imagined, he has made us cry more number of times that Karan Johar's films.. he has made us laugh more than any comedian of this era.. he has made us feel proud more than any Indian of my era, he is for me more than a human being.. he was born to bat and he lives to bat..
i always wanted to rite something about Sachin and each time i think about him words fail to express my thoughts about his greatness.. starting as a 16 year old and staying for over 20 years and still counting is not an achievement is something that not many could have even dreamed off.. when we were all busy preparing for our board exams at the age of 16 one boy went swam against the tide and was playing for his country.. when most boys of his age group started realizing what their future was he already had a past and had created history.. batting for him was just fun hitting fours was a hobby and lofting sixes was a joke..
he has played for India when they needed him the most.. he was called team India and all others had to play around him.. he has virtually done everything that a cricketer can do.. opened the batting played at one/two/three.. down.. he has opened the bowling and has also held catches that Ashis Nehra would not have even dreamed of.. almost all the cricketer has a comment about him.. most batsmen would want to achieve half of what Sachin has achieved..
a whole nation waits for him to bat a whole nation has hopes in one man and he is just 5 foot 6 inches tall.. a hook for him is just another stroke a six over covers is just another six.. i hope Rohit Sharma and Raina can atleat learn to leave the short balls if not hook them.. he can come down the ground and make bowlers bowl where he wants.. he can flick a yoker for four and he can also take the ball out of the keepers hand for his delightful late cut.. his batting is an art the most beautiful art that everyone in the world can enjoy for a very low price..
he has taken cricket to the next level.. he has given the feeling that cricket is our game.. his dismissal gives a shock his hundred is no more a surprise.. his man of the match makes us happy and when we talk about him he is our brother.. we fight not to let Sachin down because he fights not to let his team down.. his 175 against the aussies bought tears but his 144 against the same team bought us happiness.. he has been the only hope when everything seems lost.. and when he loses his wicket we feel India has lost.. for us Sachin was the team..
there are three eras of cricket the first pre sachin and third post sachin... inbetween them is the second era the sachin era.. i am proud to say that i followed cricket during the sachin era.. once he quits cricket will be just another game.. people wont stand crowded in front of tv stations to watch matches.. records will not be broken every match india plays.. and finally even if India wins the sachin's hundred would be missed.. i am already staring to feel the pain..
long live legend.. never shall a day come when you quit..
